RIM are set to release the brand new OS 10 for their new Blackberry devices set to be released later in 2012.
The Blackberry OS 10 features include: * UNIX based Operating System unlike the older java powered handsets to improve the look and feel of the interface using QNX * New touch type keyboard layout with auto word suggestions that allows you to type messages out much faster by predecting word suggestions that the system thinks you are typing in your sentances * Interface designed with fluid gestures piches and swipes to incorporate a intuitive look and feel * Large graphical tabs on the homescreen that displays live information in the form of widgets such as weather, facebook feeds etc * Smoother multitasking between apps, letting you switch between different tasks without dropping or moving completely off the screen * Unified inbox for work and personal emails keeping you in touch with your friends and also at work using the same device * Answer and reject calls using touch and swipe * Brand new camera engine from Scalado which allows users to rewind and forward certain sections of the photo to capture the best photo, this feature can erase the prospect of someone closing their eyes during capture and spoiling the photo by choosing the best expression from a sequence of photos and combining it to create the perfect photo * Enhanced video sharing through social sites * Faster website surfing experience through a brand new web browser called Torch browser * Integrated directional navigation through TomTom powered traffic and map related features In order for this revamp to be successful and cost effective, RIM for the first time have decided to integrate and license new technologies from third party companies instead of its own in-house engineers including hardware and software deals to try and bring them up to date with the Apple Iphone and Android handsets with RIM stock trading at just under $10 per share as of 08062012 this attempt at playing catchup could not come soon enough, question is, is it too late for RIM to turn this around? |
